A call center based in the city of CEBU disguised as a cryptocurrency investment company has been exposed to orchestrate an international scam that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and $ BTC investments to disappoint victims in multiple countries.

How did it happen?

In a viral but now restricted video By cybersecurity researcher and ethical hacker with a YouTube channel called “MRWN”, the fraudulent operation was discovered, which involved manipulating the victims through the promise of commercial systems with AI that guaranteed high yields in investments of $ BT.

According to MRWN, the scam operated under multiple brands, including Wealth Exchange virtual, BTC Boutique and, more recently, Solis Markets. The scammers claimed to use advanced trade bots to generate huge weekly yields, attracting victims to deposit money.

During a year of monitoring of the call center, the hacker, which infiltrated the internal systems of the group, obtained access to live food of CCTV, agents desks, email records and call recordings.

The YouTube video titled “The scammers are scared after being pirated live in CCTV!” He won generalized attention with more than 55,000 likes and 2.5 million visits, which helped expose the alleged scam operation.

Scam operation

The victims were told that their funds would be administered by commercial bots with the capable of generating weekly profits from 30% to 40%.

In addition to the false cryptographic scheme, the scammers used emotional and psychological manipulation to control their victims. They applied pressure to deter removes or cancellations, often using guilt as tactics.

The scammers also frequently changed their accents and locations to adapt to the objective, claiming to be based on African cities such as Abuja or Cabo City and falsely affirming that they were licensed financial entities.

In one case, a South African victim was persuaded to continue investing after an agent cited the country’s high cost of living to be forced to stay compromised.

“You’ve been fighting, right? And the cost of living here in South Africa, is really expensive, Mr. Norman. That’s why I wonder why you want to cancel everything when you are fighting right now.

Once the victims deposited a minimum of $ 200 in cryptography or Fiat, they were given access to manufactured panels that simulated Live $ BT activity.

“In just five minutes, he wins $ 6.61, Mrs. Cameron. Congratulations.”

Behind the scene, the agents manually controlled the false platform to show manipulated profits, reinforcing the illusion of successful cryptography trade driven by AI. This illusion often convinced the victims of investing more, believing that AI was delivering consistent yields.

But in reality, a real $ BTC negotiation was not carried out, and the funds were channeled directly to the scammers.

According to the filtered documents to which the hacker is accessed, the operation won more than $ 68,000 (₱ 3.9 million) only in February, with annual profits that supposedly exceed the ₱ 20 million.

Real crypto use?

During the MRWN confrontation with the “Antonio” operations floor manager through his laptop, the video revealed Antonio’s email account that shows messages from cryptography exchange platforms such as Binance, Netcoins and even local license coins.

This raises suspicion that the alleged head of online scammers in Cebu may be using cryptocurrency in the operation.

However, after the video went viral, the Cybercrime Research and Coordination Center (CICC) launched an investigation into the call center.

In addition, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has expressed its intention to collaborate with MRWN.

“Let me say that, above all, by the secretary and the name of Secretary Henry acute, we want to reject the notion that the Filipino government does not act in the face of adversity. [mrwn] Now contact the DICT at Dict.gov.ph or the Cicc in Cicc.gov.ph. And we will make sure that they are the investigations that you have, any finding you have, we will entertain it. We would follow it. Be sure that you have partners here in the DICT and the CICC, as well as in our other partners of government agencies; willing and sharing your defense against scammers. “

Meanwhile, a Sunstar report He declared that the Director of the Regional Police Office (PRO-7) Redrico Atienza Maranan and the director of the Police Office of the City of Cebu, Enrico Figueroa temporarily off.
