Michael Mislos, Editor-in-Chief of BiPinas: So, what inspired and motivated you, as a Filipino, to participate in Token 2049?

José Mendoza, Philippines Country Director, Bitget: As part of being with Bitget, I think Token2049 is one of the biggest crypto conferences in the world. We were inspired to participate by representing Bitget and other crypto industry players at Token2049.

Omitted: How do you think Filipino blockchain talent contributes to the blockchain industry and how can events like this unlock those strengths and opportunities?

Mendoza: That’s a very good question. There is a lot of talent in the Philippines when it comes to the web3 industry. I think events like this give Filipinos the opportunity to get global exposure. Our web3 ecosystem is still small, but with events like this, our creators in the industry will get more exposure and recognition, which can lead to more opportunities.

I know there are many initiatives happening in the Philippines such as hackathons and developer conferences that will help showcase our talent globally in web3.

Also, I would like to add that web3 education is very important for the Philippine ecosystem in terms of crypto. We need to attend these types of conferences so we can help educate users in the Philippines about cryptocurrencies and the web3.

About Bitget’s initiatives for Filipinos

Omitted: What measures are you taking or initiating to ensure that Filipinos can compete internationally?

Mendoza: With Bitget, we have a couple of initiatives. We also have Foresight Ventures, which is a venture capital arm of Bitget that invests in different projects. We are looking at projects in the Philippines in order to provide opportunities in terms of investment and exposure to millions of Bitget users.

We also have two other initiatives: Blockchain4Youth and Blockchain4Her, which are initiatives of Gracy Chen (CEO of Bitget). These focus on educating Filipinos and also globally. I think it is very important for Filipinos to take advantage of these initiatives and put us at the forefront of Web3 and cryptocurrencies in Southeast Asia.

Closing

Omitted: What is your Bitcoin price prediction for December 2024?

Mendoza: Well, if I’m thinking about the highest price, I’d say around $90,000 next year. For a bearish scenario, I would predict between $60,000 and $65,000. That would be my bearish Bitcoin price prediction.

[Editor’s note: The price of Bitcoin at the time of editing is at $96,000 line. ]
