The raid occurred a few days after five people were arrested in a separate operation on May 13 for executing a similar -registered cryptographic investment scheme in the province. According to PNP-ACG, the arrested suspects had been offering a minimum investment of ₱ 30,000 with promises of a monthly yield of 10%.
Cebu scam hub using cryptography, exposed
A CEBU headquarters center disguised as a cryptographic investment call center was exposed by an ethical hacker known as “MRWN”, which obtained full access to the CCTV, email records and desktop computers of the group agents.
The scammers used false trade bots with AI under names such as Solis Markets and BTC Boutique to promise high yields of $ BTC, attracting international victims to invest. The Viral YouTube video of the Hacker revealed the manipulative tactics of the operation and the false panels, showing more than 20 million in annual profits, although there was no real cryptography trade.
After the exhibition, the Filipinas Cybercrime Research and Coordination Center and the Department of Information and Communications Technology initiated an investigation and asked the ethical computer pirates to collaborate against such scams.
