Drake is a popular 38-year-old Canadian rapper, singer and actor. This rap star has been in the cryptocurrency sector since 2020, as crypto betting platform Stake partnered with him for a payout of $100,000 per year. Stake reportedly saw great success and saw a significant increase in income thanks to Drake, so Drake is expected to significantly increase the partnership amount after this year. In recent years, Drake has sometimes promoted cryptocurrencies.
On December 15, 2024, Drake, a popular Canadian rapper who has been named in the music industry globally, promoted a crypto meme token based on the Solana network.
Later, many people identified that it was not Drake; instead, an unknown actor hacked into Drake’s X account and posted about that meme token.
The unknown hacker tried to prove that Drake was associated with that meme token, but the Crypto community quickly identified this whole hacking and scamming game.
Following this incident, the official X account of the Solana meme token was suspended.
X hacking and crypto token promotion
Nowadays, it is very common to see popular X accounts being hacked by hackers and promoting crypto tokens. Over the past 3 years, many celebrities including government agencies have faced hacking incidents on the X platform.
Last week, the founder of the Cardano ($ADA) blockchain, Charles Hoskinson, spoke about the increasing hacking incidents around the X ecosystem; when the Cardano Foundation’s X account was hacked and a hacker promoted a meme token based on the Solana network.
Hoskinson proposed a solution to X owner Elon Musk to fix the vulnerability for free. Previously, Hoskinson asked Musk to allow the Cardano team to implement a technology to fight hacking incidents, but so far Musk has never shown any attention.
