Starkware launches S-Two Prover for ZK tests on the client side

Blockchain Company Starkware has presented zero knowledge zero (ZK) Prover Stark Two (S-TWO), allowing greater privacy and verification on everyday devices such as phones, laptops and browsers.

The company said the new ZK Prover allows users to generate complex cryptographic tests from the client side. This means that users can generate ZK proof directly on their devices instead of trusting a cloud server or infrastructure, opening the door to faster and faster applications on the Internet.

“S-TWO will bring Stark testing everyday devices and will open the door to the new use cases that prove the real world,” said Eli Ben-Sasson, co-founder and CEO of Starkware, and added that the tool could empower the next wave of ZK applications.

The company said the ZK Prover is now available in Public Alpha and is ready to launch in Starknet, its Ethereum Layer-2 scale solution, at the end of this year.

Starkware says that the new ZK Prover is 39 times faster than old solutions

Starkware said that the reference tests for the S-TWO ZK Prover showed that it was 39 times faster than the previous solutions. The performance jump allows softer experiences in applications to improve privacy.

The update also allows use cases in private transactions, ZK -based identity and verifiable artificial intelligence. Starkware said S-Two runs on CPU, GPU and will soon be in browsers.

“For years we have called our magic wand, a tool that transforms the complex calculation into a simple test,” said Ben-Sount. “Now, the wand has become a light saber in its pocket, something that anyone can exercise, instantly, from their own device.”

According to Starkware, developers can build with S-TWO, adding that their Alfa version admits hardware objectives. In addition, the company said that participants of the ZK ecosystem such as Kakarot, Nexus, Zan and Antchain OpenLabs have already adopted technology.

Kakarot USA S-TWO within Ethproofs to generate Ethereum block tests more efficiently, while Nexus is standardizing Risc-V traces to align with S-Two’s architecture. Meanwhile, Zan and Antchain OpenLabs are adding the acceleration of GPU to boost the performance of the prover even more.

Use cases for S-TWO zero-knowledge prover

Starkware operations director Oren Katz, told Cointelegraph that S-Two marks a change in the way they are used ZK proof in everyday life. The generation of validity tests directly on devices will allow privacy preservation characteristics in messages, payments and digital identity.

“You can prove that a payment was valid without showing your balance or verifying identity without revealing personal data,” Katz added.

Katz said that even salary payments could be made in the chain with full transparency and without exposure of confidential information. He described development as a “great step to bring zero knowledge technology to the mainstream.”

Beyond privacy, Katz said, the local test generation also unlocks use cases in other industries. The executive told Cointegraph that he can allow players to play offline and then generate cryptographic tests of their achievements.

“An operator, instead of executing the entire logic chain to demonstrate integrity, can execute it on its own servers and simply generate proof that it was executed correctly,” Katz added.

New Zk Prover follows Ethereum’s privacy impulse

The launch of the Updated Starware ZK Prover follows Ethereum’s impulse for better privacy. On April 11, the co -founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Butein, published a road map that addressed privacy improvements for wallets, decentralized finance applications (DEFI) and infrastructure.

Buterin advocated implementing the rules and characteristics that improve privacy in the Ethereum ecosystem, including the addition of privacy tools in ETH wallets.
